Heavy Lyst   |   Light Lyst

Heavy Weapons

Lyst steward: Subadai Bahadur
Saturday, Feb 9th @ 9am: Inspection
Saturday, Feb 9th @ 10am: Lyst begins

The Two Headed Fighter Lyst was won by Count Arden & Sir Kelwin of Team JOHN.

The Heavy Fighting will consist of three parts:

Two Headed Fighter Lyst

Two friends were about to be eaten by an evil dragon. They convinced the dragon to match them in a contest of wits. If they lost, they were eaten, but if they won, the dragon had to give them a blessing. The wise friends outsmarted the arrogant dragon, and demanded as their blessing that the dragon make them stronger, each as strong as both together. So the dragon used his magic to join them together as one, making them each as strong as both together.

Two fighters will act as one. One fighter gets a weapon, the other a shield, and both must grasp a piece of rope between them. Double elimination list. Any single-handed weapon and shield combo is acceptable. Fighters may switch sides or weapon/shield between matches. The arm grasping the rope is not a target, but if the fighters let go, they forfeit the fight. Having the rope knocked loose or if one falls and has to let go does not count. If one of the fighters is killed the other continues until dead or victorious. The remaining fighter may arm himself if he is the one holding the shield. If one fighter is armed, he may continue as a human shield until killed.

Ancestors Team Melee Lyst

A powerful family is divided, and the clans battle over the sacred family war banner. Each clan calls upon their ancestors to help them in the battle.

The fighters will be split into teams based on the number present, and fight for possession of a banner. Each fighter will get two tokens, representing their mother and father spirits, who intervene on their behalf. If a fighter is killed, he must give up his token to the clan that killed him (a total of three deaths). He then resumes fighting, infused with the spirit of his ancestor. But, because another is controlling his body, the fighter must switch weapon styles if he is authorized in more than one style. The clan with the most tokens collected at the end of the time limit is the winner. Possession of the banner at the end is worth an extra 5 tokens.

Yin/Yang Battle

Timed resurrection melee. Each time a fighter is killed, he switches sides.

Light Weapons

Lyst steward: Lord Lachlan MacPherson (Lord Swab)
Saturday, Feb 9th @ 1pm: Inspection
Saturday, Feb 9th @ 2pm: Lyst begins

The Light Lyst was won by Gui.

The Light Lyst will be a "drunken master" fencing competition. All competitors will be required to showcase a reasonable attempt of a "drunken master" fighting style. Elimination rules TBA.

All competitors must bring an SCA-fencing-legal "liquor bottle" as a defensive secondary. Loaner "bottles" will be available for those not sufficiently "drunken"; originality of "bottle" is encouraged!

Prizes will be awarded for "best bottle" and "most drunken master" in addition to the usual award for lyst winner.
