Recommendations are how people receive awards in the SCA. A recommendation is a letter (or email) to a the head of a barony or kingdom explaining how nifty someone is and suggesting a specific award to give them.

You can check what awards someone already has by checking the Trimarian Order of Precedence.

A recommendation should include: who you are, the period-style name of the person you're writing about, the person's "real" name, the person's SCA member number, and specific things the person has done to deserve an award. Please note that while only SCA members can receive awards, anyone can write a recommendation!

The Baron and Baroness of Oldenfeld are empowered to award the following:

• The Beacon of Oldenfeld is the highest award conferred by Oldenfeld. It is given for excellence in service to the barony. Examples of service are: volunteering at an event; running an event; being an baronial officer; or helping others in any SCA-related way.
• The Silver Acorn is given for personal excellence in, fostering of or advancement of the arts or sciences. Examples of fostering the arts and sciences are: participating in an ArtSci competition; teaching classes in a craft; doing research and making that research available to others; etc.
• The Lions Paw is given for personal excellence in, fostering of or advancement of the Marshal Arts. Examples of excellence in the marshal arts are: fighting in tournaments; and teaching others to fight.

Send recommendations to the Baron and Baroness of Oldenfeld (coronetsoldenfeld [dot] net) about these three awards. Please include - at minimum! - the person's SCA member number and what specific things they've done to deserve an award.
